Custom Orders FAQS

  • Am I limited to the customizations listed on the order form?

Not at all! If you’d like a one-of-a-kind customization, there will be a section toward the bottom of the order form where you can describe exactly what you’re looking for. You are also able to upload inspo photos that suit your vision. Don’t be shy with asking for exactly what you want!

    How much do customizations cost?

The price of your customizations are dependent on the cost of the materials, the time/labor it takes me to execute the customization, and the value of my expertise. With that, the cost of customizations can range from minor to major - It just depends on what you’re asking for. If you’d like to have a better idea of costs, simply fill out the order form, and I will get back to you with an invoice. From there, you can decide if you’d like to move forward.

  • Do you do deliveries?

Yes! I do deliveries via ride share (Uber/Lyft).

How do ride share deliveries work?

I will order a ride share to my location, place your order in the car, and send it on it's way to your provided delivery address so it arrives within 30min of your confirmed delivery time. I will send you a screenshot of the ride share info. The driver will NOT come to the door to deliver your order, so please appoint someone to receive the order from the rideshare vehicle once it arrives.

What is the cost of ride share delivery?

I will put a $50 hold on your card to cover the cost of the ride share, and refund you the difference after. I will send you a receipt of the ride share cost.

Can I reschedule my delivery to a different date and/or time?

Rescheduling is always subject to availability, but I will likely be able to accommodate your reschedule request. If you’d like to check my availability to reschedule, please email info@andshebakesnashville.com.

What if I miss my delivery?

It is extremely important that someone is ready when your ride share arrives. The ride share is a one-way trip, so if you miss the delivery, it will not come back for me to hold the order. If you miss the ride share, you will lose your order and you will not be refunded.

What happens if my order gets ruined during delivery?

Once your order has left my possession, I am not responsible for any damages to the cake. By selecting ride share delivery, you accept this risk.

Only for weddings, I will personally deliver your order to make sure there are no hiccups on your wedding day. My delivery fee to your venue is based on roundtrip milage, my time and labor.

When transporting your cake, keep the cake level and cool. I recommend setting the cake on the passenger side floor board with the air conditioning on so the cake doesn’t get warm. Drive carefully!

How do I safely carry my cake?

Always lift the cake and/or cake box by placing at least one hand underneath the bottom. Do not lift the cake and/or cake box by grabbing just the sides.

  • When you order from And She Bakes, you agree to give me some creative liberties with your order. Thank you for respecting me as an artist, and trusting me with your order.

    A note on inspiration photos:

Inspiration photos are welcomed, as having a visual reference to share with my clients is extremely helpful!

However, please acknowledge that my artistic style and skillset may vary from the specific styles/skillsets used by the artists in your inspo photos.

Out of respect for the artists' work in your inspo photos, and for myself as an artist, I will not exactly replicate your inspo photos.

This doesn’t mean I’ll go off the rails! It just means that I will execute your vision through my own artistic expertise.

With this, I'm able to stay true to myself as an artist, while still giving my clients what they want. It’s the best of both worlds!

A note on replicating my past work:

I’m flattered that you love my work so much that you want me to replicate it for you. However, I do not make exact replicas of my past custom orders.

I can match the vibe and essence of a past design, but in a new and fresh way.

I’m always striving to push myself as an artist, to stay innovative and to make unique creations. Please let me make something completely one-of-a-kind for you.

    A note on denying orders:

I put 110% into all of my orders. If I can’t give your order 110% effort - i.e. if I feel your order is too complex to execute in the lead-time given - I will politely decline.

I will also kindly decline any order that doesn’t align with me as an artist or person.

General

  • How should I serve my cake?

I recommend eating your cake at room temperature for the best flavor and texture, so remove the cake from the fridge a couple hours before serving it.

How many people will my cake serve?

Cake serving sizes can vary depending on the size of your cake and how you cut your slices. The serving amounts listed here are based on 1.5-2” thick slices.

When should I remove my cake from the box?

I recommend removing the cake from it’s box as soon as you take it out of the fridge prior to serving. The buttercream will still be cold and hard, so the cake is less likely to be accidentally scraped or damaged while removing the box.

Can I serve my cake outside on a hot day?

If you’re serving your cake in a hot environment, proceed at your own risk. It’s not impossible to serve your cake outside, I just always like to remind my clients that cakes are make out of buttercream. Butter can become soft, and even melt at high temperatures.

If you’re going to serve your cake outside, assess the weather. If the whether is around 75 or below - go for it! But I still recommend keeping your cake out of direct sunlight. If the weather is between 75-95 degrees, be careful. You can try keeping it out of the sunlight and keep your eye on it, but I’d recommend keeping your cake inside as long as possible until it’s time to serve the cake.

Please see my “Damage Policy” section.

Serving

  • Ordering your cake in advance:

You can order your cake in advance and refrigerate it for up to 5 days prior to serving, or freeze it for up to 2 weeks prior to serving.

    Refrigerating your cake in advance:

Keep your cake in its box when you store it in the fridge. If you plan on refrigerating it for more than a couple days, I recommend additionally sealing the box in plastic wrap. Keeping it in it’s box with plastic wrap will help keep it as fresh as possible.

The cake will keep for about 5 days in the fridge.

Freezing your cake ahead of time:

Your cake will keep for about 2 weeks in the freezer prior to serving. Keep your cake in its box when you store it in the freezer. Bonus points if you seal the box with with plastic wrap. Keeping it in it’s box, plus sealing it with plastic wrap will help keep it as fresh as possible.

IMPORTANT: The night before you plan on serving your cake, transfer it from the freezer to the refrigerator (still in it’s box) to allow it to gradually thaw overnight. If you take your cake directly from the freezer to room temperature, you may temperature shock your cake, which can cause condensation and result in possible damage.

On the day of serving, remove your cake from the fridge a couple hours before serving to reach room temp.

How do I store my leftover cake?

Store your leftover cake by placing it back in the delivery box, or by completely slicing it up and transferring the slices into an airtight container (recommended). Your leftover cake can last in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or in the freezer for up to 6 months.

What are the dimensions of your cake boxes so I can create room in my fridge/freezer?

Make sure you have space in your fridge or freezer to store the cake. The dimensions of my cake boxes are:

    6” cakes: 8”x8”x9”

    8” cakes: 10”x10”x9”

    10” cakes: 12”x12”x9”
